Emerging artist Kidd Noir has released her highly anticipated EP, Year 19, a deeply introspective project.
The EP explores the emotional rollercoaster of young adulthood, focusing specifically on the defining year of 19—a time often marked by self-discovery, confusion, and personal growth.
The concept behind Year 19 is a deeply personal one. Each track reflects a different stage or emotional moment in Kidd Noir’s journey, from heartbreak and self-doubt to acceptance and clarity. “Year 19 offers a glimpse into my mind as a young adult, representing different challenges and stages through diverse soundscapes, all mainly focusing on the guitar bringing these emotions to life,” she explains. The result is an EP that feels raw and vulnerable, with each song mirroring the highs and lows of the age.
Kidd Noir’s musical journey began at the age of 9 when she got her first guitar. By 18, she was already producing her own music, learning how to recreate her favourite songs and developing a sound that blends alternative R&B, pop, and indie influences. Inspired by artists like Dijon, Mk.gee, Dominic Fike, and Frank Ocean, her music is a reflection of both her personal experiences and her artistic vision.
With Year 19, Kidd Noir taps into universal themes of self-exploration and emotional growth, offering listeners a window into her world. Her evocative songwriting and distinctive sound promise to make this EP a standout release, resonating with anyone who has navigated the complex terrain of becoming an adult.
