Ryan Ofei reflects on personal growth and faith in new afrobeats and R&B fusion single, “Abba”, out now.

Told through Ryan Ofei’s commanding vocals, “Abba” is a captivating track guiding listeners through the narrative of self-discovery and spirituality. Reflecting on the challenges of adjusting to change, the emerging artist recalls a humorous memory of his dad’s haircut in the lyrics. “When I was 10 years old, my family moved to Canada, and it was a massive change adjusting to a new country, school, church, and friends,” he explains. “My worst and funniest memory was with my dad. The day before school started, he decided to be my barber, and the haircut he gave me left me bald.”

Looking beyond the storyline, the single embraces the complexities of human imperfection and family relationships. Although his father was only looking out for his best interests, the outcome was far from desirable.

For those who may be new to Ryan Ofei’s soul-bearing music, he is a burgeoning musician established in the contemporary Christian music scene, as a member of the multi-GRAMMY award-winning collective Maverick City Music. His career has blossomed beyond Maverick City, though, with a solo career blending a multitude of his musical and cultural influences. He continues today to make tracks beyond the norm of Christian music, his spirit and imagination a point of intrigue for both music lovers and Christians alike.
