Immerse yourself in this emotive and transcendent short film and album, 'AMONG MY SOUVENIRS', by the enigmatic storyteller SIROJ.
Multi-hyphenate creative, SIROJ, has outdone himself with the release of his meditative and genre-blending latest album and visual ‘AMONG MY SOUVENIRS’.
Effortlessly weaving between nostalgic rap, sensual R&B and soul – ‘AMONG MY SOUVENIRS’ is a collection of intimate memories that SIROJ releases into the world from his arms in joint unity between sonic and visual. Dissecting the themes of enigmatic love and quiet heartbreak, SIROJ leaves no stone unturned with his cinematic eye for detail and prolific lyricism. The album is thrown to greater heights with each collaborated visual that transcends each track.
Speaking on the project as a whole, SIROJ revealed, “‘AMONG MY SOUVENIRS’ is a collection of musical souvenirs that I composed in the last two years, in which all kinds of pieces from his past coincide into one. Through interpretations of befriended features including Yung Nnelg, Dusty, Joya Mooi and Cero Ismael, that narrative evolved into a fragmented story of memories, love, loss and drama. In parallel, I’ve collaborated on the creative direction of the album with Daniël Sumarna. Throughout the journey, I’ve sent demos and singles, allowing the direction to evolve organically overtime on both sides. The further I got with finishing the album the further Daniël got with the creative direction. A natural evolution of the collaborative spirit I tried to maintain throughout this exploration of identity and creativity. As a result, we turned the album in a fragmented short story, divided over 12 scenes, each visualizing and interpreting one song of the album — all taking place in the same universe. A resemblance of the fragmented nature of the album itself. All the scenes were directed by Daan van Citters and Daniël Sumarna and produced by Since ’88.”
