Los Angeles artist audalei returns with nonchalant dream pop single “Meringue Pie”.

Indie-pop artist audalei returns with lo-fi, introspective offering, “Meringue Pie.” An expert at composing melodic chord progressions with evocative, moody lyrics – audalei is back with another alluring track.

It follows somber release, “Serotonin,” which saw audalei dive deep as she wore her heart on her sleeve. “Meringue Pie,” bounces back as an infectious hit. Collaborating with respected figures Dalton Ricks, (engineer for Vampire Weekend, Maggie Rogers), Tyler Gardosh (music manager: Frankie Cosmos, Clairo) and brother Lucas Furseth, “Meringue Pie,” is a product of daunting drums and delicate ukulele – overseen by special FX and a tape machine.

Creating her very own dystopian world, audalei explains the meaning behind “Meringue Pie”. It explores the cycle of short-term romances which transition from light, optimistic honey moon phases to a dark, reality overnight: “the metaphor used is one of a beautiful sunny day that is seemingly perfect but never lasts past the sunset.”
