Having recently moved to London, Boston Bun is bringing his French touch to the UK this summer, starting with his new single Spread Love.

Social media has changed the way we interact with our favourite artists. More than just musicians, they’re now personalities, people we can interact with on the daily. Now more than ever we’re aware that musicians are pretty normal people, they just have a weird job. Every week we get to know one of our favourite SoundCloud heroes, internet dating style, in our new column, Internet Crush.

Boston Bun is about to burst out of the underground. An alumnus of Busy P’s iconic Ed Banger Records, the same label that broke Daft Punk and Justice, Bun recently moved to Lonon after a life in France and has brought the energy and humour of French house along with him. Defined by a big room sensibility that weaves in samples, nods to the underground and more than a hint of surrealism, Bun’s music sits nicely between the straight-faced small label world of electronic music and the wilder, more commercial side of the club. His new single ‘Spread Love (Paddington)’ is the perfect example of this fusion, featuring an off the wall vocal from DVNO and a beat that pays homage to the heights of 2000s dance music. It’s already on track to become a summer-defining track so we decided to get to know more about the man behind it for this week’s Internet Crush.

Why Paddington Bear?

I had the same question when Mehdi (DVNO) sent me his vocals. I was like ‘wait, what?’. And that’s why I loved it. That ‘wait, what?’ is the DNA of electronic music. When you like it but you don’t necessarily understand it.

Your song was recently included in Love Island – who should win?

I have to confess something. I moved to the UK three months ago, and I didn’t know what it was when I received a message from a friend; “Omg! Your track is on Love Island right now!”. Unfortunately, I’m not an expert and I won’t try and make any predictions.

What’s the best thing about London compared to Paris?

I think British people are way more polite than French people. I love it.

What’s your favourite music video of yours and why?

“Spread Love”, 100%. I’ve been waiting for a video like this for so long. Feel good, with real comedy elements, a video that takes the track to another level. I’m super proud of this one.
