Electropop newcomer Planet CeCe releases dreamy DnB track “calling u out”, out now.

Planet CeCe’s second-ever single, “calling u out”, has all the makings of a perfect DIY pop hit: from its shoegaze-y guitars and groovy basslines to its DnB beats. Following in the footsteps of rising stars piri, PinkPantheress and Nia Archives, what has resulted is a liberatingly playful take on a break-up song. Inspiration for the song derived both from her own experience and, surprisingly, an episode of Beverly Hills, 90210 in which main Kelly Taylor stated, “I put me first”. With her crystalline vocals and infectious beats, Planet CeCe sonically takes the listener down this journey of self-discovery and empowerment.

The Cambridge-based artist makes self-described ‘sad girl dance tunes’ from the comfort of her bedroom, with her older brother as producer. She discovered a love for music many years earlier while watching a Swedish-German TV show with a musically-gifted heroine, and, with all the immediacy of a popstar in the making, asked her brother to teach her to play the guitar. Fast forward to 2022, when the sibling duo released their debut single, “flakers”, a pop track approved by BBC Introducing.

Ready to make her mark on the UK’s music scene, Planet CeCe’s brand new release is just a taster of how 2023 will look for the musician. So, headphones in and ex blocked, stream “calling u out”, out now.
