Alt-pop artist LACES shares her wistful new single “Girlfriend”.
The latest moniker of Jessica Vaughn, who has also gone by the names Charlotte Sometimes and JPOLND, LACES is building up a brand-new reputation.
Since her reincarnation as LACES seven years ago when she relocated to LA, the artist has been tallying up a number of big hits, including the viral single “The End” – which featured on raved-about Netflix series Bridgerton. Under her legal name Vaughn, she writes and produces music for Hasbro cartoons such as Jem & the Holograms, Baby Alive, Littlest Pet Shop, and Equestria Girls. She has also spent time at Geffen Records and competed on The Voice.
LACES’ latest, “Girlfriend”, is a hopeful track on frustration and new starts in relationships.
On the track, LACES has said: “I wrote ‘Girlfriend’ as a celebration of who I am, as a treatise on how I love, and to give myself a chance to reflect on those teenage years that created the confident bi-sexual badass that I am today.”
