South African singer-songwriter Thando Skwatsha teams up with producer Milan Rendall on his sophomore album ‘iimini nentsuku’.

Hailing from South Africa, Thando Skwatsha is a singer-songwriter and musician making infectious tracks. Returning with his first full-length project since his 2020 debut album ‘Love Is’, Thando is back with a sophomore album titled ‘iimini nentsuku’.

Influenced by renowned artists Ne-Yo, Brandy, and Beyoncé, throughout his work the artist scopes his authentic sound and weaves in speckles of neo-soul with R&B, afrobeats and more. Written entirely by himself, ‘iimini nentsuku’ is a 12-track project mixed by Keron Sheriff Thomspon (Major Lazer, Wyclef Jean) and mastered by Christian Wright (Ed Sheeran, Radiohead, Laura Marling). Touching upon themes of his family heritage and heartache, Thando opens up for an introspective project and sings about positive manifestations for the future.

Speaking about his musical inspiration in the run-up to this new release, Thando says: “‘iimini nentsuku’ (which means days and nights) is the first full project that I have written entirely myself. It is close to my heart because every song is written in my home language of isiXhosa as well as isiZulu. The recurring theme in the album is past love. However, themes of hope can be heard throughout the album, including on songs like “iskhalo sabantwana” and “all night”, while key stories from events in my life can also be found across this album”.
