Indie-soul sister duo Deuxes release brand-new track “Trombone”, out now.

Deuxes’s newest single “Trombone” fuses enticing melodies with soulful scatting, as they continue to perfect their signature R&B cross soul sound. As well as integrating influences from Motown to rock, the multi-instrumental pair take inspiration from some of the most prolific noughties musical groups, including Destiny’s Child and SWV. Told through silky smooth vocals and silvery harmonies reminiscent of the 00s’ finest, the single opens up on struggles with addiction and a subsequent path to isolation.

Although Deuxes are now setting up for an exciting 2023, it hasn’t been a smooth journey for the pair. Soon after releasing their debut single “Genesis”  in 2020, their rise was halted by the pandemic when live performances became impossible. All wasn’t lost, though, as this gave them the chance to find and perfect their signature sound. Flash forward to last year when the sisters could finally release their second single “Ripping at the Seams”, which was accompanied by a soul train-themed video. They’ve since continued building momentum, performing at Truck Festival, Loud Women Fest and many grassroots venues across the UK.

With plenty on the cards for the coming year, including a debut EP, Deuxes’ newest release is proof that their funk sensibilities are here to stay.
