Self-assured artist and producer Loveday shares a new lo-fi pop release about falling in love, titled “Ugly Smile”.

Returning with another electronic-infused pop song, fast-rising artist and songwriter Loveday is back with an infectious single. Completely self-produced, “Ugly Smile”, is a melodic track carved by romantic lyrics and sensational production.

Starting her music journey in 2018, Loveday has since shared a range of ambient hits and hasn’t looked back. Proving herself to be a talented singer-songwriter, producer and artist to watch, the 23-year-old has previously performed at the O2 Academy in Leicester, featured on an episode of Channel 5’s The Gadget Show, and achieved viral success on TikTok.

Speaking about the meaning behind her new single, Loveday says: ““Ugly smile” is about falling for somebody after leaving a toxic relationship. I wrote this track about my own experience. I was trying to convince myself that I wasn’t going to get into anything serious because I was terrified of commitment after my ex had treated me terribly. However, I couldn’t ignore how strong my feelings were for this person. I wrote this track at the peak of my confusion, hence the back and forth in the lyrics. Then finally, as the end of the song expresses, I started to open my mind to the possibility of another relationship, because this new person was different. Now that I think about it, writing this song really helped me decide what to do (I went for it, and we’re still together now a year and a half later)”.
