Ethan Drone’s Glorybots set to release mad.end LP in spring 2025.
Glorybots is set to release its newest long play (LP) mad.end in the spring of 2025. The album continues with the band’s distinctive blend of post-punk, alternative rock, and electronic elements toward achieving a dark and atmospheric sound. Guided by musician Ethan Drone, Glorybots chases the boundless potential of human creativity and shares the journey with its audience.
A Founder’s Journey and Glorybots’ Inspiration
Ethan started writing music in the fourth grade, using a recorder to play it. He later picked up the trumpet, but as a young teen, he was finally given a bass guitar and a 12-string acoustic guitar. Together with his brother, he launched his first band, Onyxial Spirit. Today, he plays bass, electric and acoustic guitars, keyboard, piano, ukulele, and even the Brazilian berimbau.
“I grew up listening to ’80s and ’90s rock and have been heavily influenced by bands including Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, The Cure, [and more],” Ethan shared, “but I fell in love with music listening to the Beatles and Brazilian folk music. I’ve been singing since childhood and have been writing music for 20+ years; before Glorybots, I was the singer and songwriter for the Seattle-based rock band, Echo Texture.”
A Distinct, Evolving Sound
Glorybots is Ethan’s newest musical venture, a band inspired by his greatest influences, all of which carry into Glorybots’ signature sound. Across Glorybots’ four albums, from the debut Dark Alien Pop to the upcoming mad.end, the band’s expression of its dark and futuristic aesthetic has changed dramatically.
“I’ve released five prior albums to date, two of which were with the band Echo Texture, released in 2015 and 2017,” Ethan explained. “The current Glorybots album, mad.end, is my sixth album to date, and the fourth Glorybots album.”
Released and Upcoming Singles
Fans already have an opportunity to tell the sonic difference, since the first single of Glorybots’ upcoming album Pain Rain is already available across all streaming platforms. With two additional singles to be dropped in the next few months, there is much to anticipate about Glorybots’ evolving sound. The band maintains its fusion of electric and analog for a dark aesthetic but takes a new, compelling approach in mad.end.
Achievements and Recognitions
For its music, Glorybots has been recognized for creating one of The Ark of Music’s Top 10 Albums of 2018. The band has been featured on multiple major music review platforms and has had the opportunity to go on a West Coast tour in 2019. While in Echo Texture, Ethan even opened for Dandy Warhols.
A Message of Hope and Creativity
Notably, Glorybots has come to be known for its message of hope, and its consistent showcasing of human creativity. Ethan and his band believe that there is boundless potential in human inspiration and that there is always hope for the future. While Glorybots pushes artistic boundaries with its dark, futuristic sound, the band maintains this recurring theme to inspire others and encourage creativity.
Plans for the Future
Moving forward, Glorybots plans to continue spreading this message of hope and innovating in musical spaces. The band wants to perform at large festivals, tour extensively, and share new ways of self-expression through music. The band’s upcoming album, mad.end, is just another step along the way in their musical journey, cementing an inspired sound while exploring new expressions.
