PsychoYP untangles the messiness of love in an impactful double single.

PsychoYP has been at the cutting edge of Nigerian music, jumping across the various subgenres of rap and hip-hop with carefree abandon and gaining notices across the music press as one of the most exciting names to watch on the continent.

It’s his frequency of releases that’s getting attention too – six months have passed since the drop of his fourth studio project, but he’s ready to lay down the gauntlet again with the drop of a new double single, two songs full of bold and exciting flow that demand to be listened to.

With the typically florid and intricate instrumentation that PsychoYP are known for, the two tracks, “MIDLIFE CRISIS” and “WYDTM” are linked together by their often humorous perspectives on how to navigate love and heartbreak, whether it’s through falling for someone older or good old fashioned retail therapy, proving an artist with real insight about matters of the heart.

On the release’s title single, he says, “The song comes from a special place because I’m used to showing my strengths and hardcore side. This time, I really wanted to tell people the kind of relationships we face right now. They are filled with broken people finding something special in each other. ‘Midlife Crisis’ tells the story of a young boy in love with an older woman. Their bond is formed from the need to escape and craving for intimacy”.
