Iconic British-brand Mulberry have announced the latest collaboration in their Mulberry Editions series: with acclaimed London-based designer Nicholas Daley.

Designer Nicholas Daley is known for a practice rooted in three core values: culture, craftsmanship, and community. The latest collaboration then, seems like a perfect fit in a series that offers designers the opportunity to interpret Mulberry’s timeless design heritage and DNA.

For this capsule, Daley has reinterpreted Mulberry’s Antony, the iconic unisex satchel, as well as creating a series of music-inspired accessories. The collection draws on the designer’s dual Jamaican and Scottish heritage, as well as some era-defining sonic-movements of the 1960s and 70s. The result: versions of The Antony in five size options, including including a brand-new oversized iteration created exclusively for the capsule. Think whipstitch, fringe and braided motifs in a nod to the outfits and accessories worn by the likes of Miles Davis, Roy Ayers and Jimi Hendrix.

You may notice some familiar faces in the collection’s visuals, the campaign film features the performance of a specially written composition by Sons of Kemet frontman Shabaka Hutchings, accompanied by Grammy-nominated recording artist Lianne La Havas. The band comprises of Daisy George, Jasmine Kayser and Shirley Tettah, and a horn section featuring Grifton Forbes-Amos, Elijah Clarke and David Laleye-Thomas who are some of the most talented members of Tomorrow’s Warriors, a talent development charity that has nurtured some of London’s most exciting young jazz artists.

The luxury musical accessories in this collection are a first for Mulberry, created specifically with Daley’s close community of stage-performing musicians in mind. Fringed guitar and saxophone straps are crafted in complementary suede tones, while a plectrum case and hats feature embroidery techniques that echo artisanal leather goods found across North Africa and the Caribbean. The suede, grained leather and cotton canvas in rich, earthy shades play with Daley’s ready-to-wear collections. Mulberry’s iconic Postman’s Lock hardware is also treated to a Daley reinvention, discreetly inverted and turned to a north-south orientation framed by fine embroidery.

The capsule comprises an Antony, a Mini Antony, a Small Antony, an Antony Messenger and an Oversized Antony. These are accompanied by a Guitar Strap, a Saxophone Strap, a Plectrum Case, a Leather Patchwork Hat and Bucket Hat.

The collection launches in store and on Mulberry.com on January 13th 2022.
