As an independent recording artist stroke creative master, it’s definitely clear that you have to be able to control every output of your creative world. That’s exactly what Chris Scholar does.
In ‘Northside’, the visual depicts a coming of age love story that will be able to universally touch the hearts of everyone who has experienced this. Directed and edited by Scholar himself, it’s the first time Chris has filmed back in his home town after moving to LA, making the visual even more emotive. Following a loose narrative, the video shows Chris and his love interest who is from the opposite side of town, whilst playing with concepts of dual reality.
The track itself is an amalgamation of a sensual midtempo vibe with Chris’ vocal switching between falsetto choruses and clean spoken verses. The contemporary R&B track lies at the intersection of where old school meets new, and we can’t get enough of the track and visual. Speaking on ‘Northside’, Chris revealed, “Northside is an ode to my roots. My beginnings in love, a sort of coming of age story that many of us experience.”
