In Notion Now: Week 2, we've got new tracks from Charlotte Lawrence, slowthai and A$AP Rocky, Saweetie and Doja Cat, and Adekunle Gold and Nao to brighten up your week.
"Talk You Down" by Charlotte Lawrence
Notion 88 cover star, Charlotte Lawrence, has shared this fizzy pop number, complete with breathy, pitch-perfect falsettos. The song is "about anxiety and how I deal with it", Charlotte says. "Talking with someone about how you feel is a perfect way to get through any emotional experience”. We couldn't agree more.
"Antidote (feat. Adekunle Gold)" by Nao
Firstly, let's start by saying that the cover art for this track is stunning. Secondly, what a dream collab. The melody is instantly recognisable as a Nao track, and Adekunle Gold's vocals intertwine perfectly with Nao's. We've got this on repeat.
"MAZZA (feat A$AP Rocky)" by slowthai
slowthai is back at his acerbic best for this link up with A$AP Rocky. Premiered as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1, "MAZZA" features slowthai's fearless, distinctive flow against a swaggering beat. The rapper's second album 'TYRON' is set for release on 5th February.
"Best Friend (feat. Doja Cat)" by Saweetie
Saweetie recruits Doja Cat for this lively number all about appreciating your ride or die. It's an instant confidence booster, and the latest cut from Saweetie's upcoming album, 'Pretty Bitch Music'.
"WW2" by Unknown T
Homerton rapper Unknown T kicks off 2021 with the impactful new single "WW2". A great addition to T's already impressive catalogue.
"Remember" by Jake Isaac ft. Samm Hensshaw and Mumu Fresh
Jake Isaac teams up with Samm Henshaw and Mumu Fresh for this gorgeous new song that reminisces on the early days of a relationship.
"Girl Like Me (feat. H.E.R.)" by Jazmine Sullivan
From Jazmine Sullivan's new 'Heaux Tales' project (her first album in 5 years) comes this collab with H.E.R. Harmonising perfectly around an acoustic riff, the laid back track is the closing number on the record. "I wrote 'Heaux Tales' to give voice to every woman. We’re deserving of respect whether we work as a CEO of a company or if we’re strippin’", Sullivan said of the project.
"Lose Your Head" by London Grammar
The three-piece continue to share songs from their forthcoming album 'California Soil', the latest of which is this melancholic track. Vocalist Hannah Reid commented of the new release: “'Lose Your Head’ is about power and control in relationships. The lyrics are quite dark, but I wanted to show the song in an upbeat way”.
