In Notion Now: Week 6, jump into the weekend with new tunes from Hope Tala, Alfie Templeman, LÉON, Arlo Parks and more.

"It's Been A Little Heavy Lately" by Joesef

Joesef bursts into February with a new tune, “It’s Been A Little Heavy Lately”, a wryly humorous track that pulls a sample from seminal queer director Gregg Araki’s cult classic film, 'Totally Fucked Up'.

"Party Sickness" by Hope Tala

Hope Tala shares another sun-drenched tune in the form of "Party Sickness". Tala explains: "The concept of Party Sickness is all about having fun and being a bit messy. A big part of my inspiration for the song was an astrology meme that categorised the different elements into their behavioural roles at parties; it said water signs were the best leading actors in a drama (I’m a Scorpio.) I wanted it to be an anthem for people who consider themselves to be the life and soul of the party."

"Softly" by Arlo Parks

Arlo Parks had, it’s safe to say, a pretty successful 2021, if by “successful” you mean a Mercury Prize win and co-signs from some of the world’s biggest artists. Her upbeat new track “Softly”, adding a poppy inflection to Parks’ vulnerable sound, presages a year where she’s set to tour with Harry Styles and Billie Eilish. Standard.

"Broken" by Alfie Templeman

After years of hit singles and steadily building hype, Alfie Templeman is finally ready to put out his debut album, which is coming in May. Before that, enjoy his new single “Broken”, a tune poignantly informed by Templeman’s struggles with mental health during the pandemic.

"Wishful Thinking" by LÉON

LÉON has announced a brand new album coming to your ears in just a month, and she’s accompanied the announcement with a new single drop, “Wishful Thinking”, a dreamy preview of what to expect from her come March.

"War" by ArrDee & Aitch

Call it the Chicken Shop Date team-up – UK rap luminaries ArrDee and Aitch have joined forces for a new collab, “War”, a bold rap battle that coincides neatly with the announcement of ArrDee’s highly-anticipated new mixtape for release next month.

"Beach Boy" by BENEE

Kiwi popstar BENEE hits the sunny shores of Los Angeles with her new track “Beach Boy”, a burst of bright energy that announces a new EP titled ‘Lychee’ coming this time next month.

"TOUCH" by keshi

Multihyphenate keshi is about to show the world what he’s all about on his coming debut album. His new single “TOUCH” neatly illustrates that, showing his thoughtful, tender and romantic sides.

"CRITIQUA" by Junglepussy

Junglepussy makes her long-awaited return with the new EP, ‘Jp5000’, a more introspective evolution of her sound. The EP’s lead single, “CRITIQUA”, is a psychedelic playground that illustrates Junglepussy’s refusal to slow down or stay in just one lane.

"Pull Up" by Koffee

Announcing the release of her debut album, 'Gifted', Koffee also shares new tune "Pull Up", produced by Afroswing pioneer Jae5.

"she's all i wanna be" by Tate McRae

Notion 88 cover star Tate McRae showcases her moving storytelling abilities on new track "she's all i wanna be".

"Hide & Seek" by Knucks

British rapper Knucks unveils his dual single release “Alpha House / Hide and Seek” from his forthcoming EP ‘Alpha Place’. The songs explore the two warring sides between the streets and the law and how we see the humanity within each other.
