Ahead of the release of his album, When I Wake Up, Maverick Sabre threw an intimate listening party in collaboration with Notion.

Excited chatter followed by swings of tasty ginger-ale and alcohol infused Havana Club drinks, filled Hospital Club’s Oak room, as guests waited for Irish soul’s leading man, Maverick Sabre, to take the stage. After a series of dimmed lights, excited whispers, and earnest looks, Maverick walked on stage with a swaggering charm and a warm “hello, hello”. Sitting down with a beaming smile, Maverick turned to Notion editor, Russell Dean Stone to answer a few questions about his highly anticipated album, When I Wake Up. Engaging in discussions about Brexit, mental health and more, Maverick’s Irish lilt was as captivating as his music and his wicked sense of humour and societal awareness had everyone betrothed.

As well as a premature/early listen of When I Wake Up, guests got the chance to watch music videos that accompany the musician’s album. Reflective of Maverick’s Irish heritage, attendees were introduced to Ireland’s scenic landscapes. Speaking to Russell about what Ireland means to him, the singer said with a sentimental grin: “There’s a warmth in Ireland, a sense of grounding… [and] a carefreeness there… a love.”

Closing the night with a stirring performance, Maverick’s vocals boomed through the room and guests were seen swaying to bass-heavy tunes. The singer’s dedication to produce quality music has resulted in a successful career and now an astoundingly unique album. When I Wake Up can be found everywhere on Friday 22nd March 2019. Save the date.
