New York based producer, xo purp, expands his genre universe with new track "nova".

Finely tuned at under 2 minutes long, “nova” takes xo purp in a different direction musically, as we see the artist experiment with indie-pop.

Landing on the scene just last year with the hyperpop number “waiting2die” – which has since seen over 100,000 plays on Spotify alone – xo purp has a stream of self-produced singles as well as an EP.

Noting his inspirations as modern pop artists glaive, aldn and ericdoa, xo purp’s new single “nova”  is both metaphorical and literal, written from another perspective and inspired from The Beatles’ song “She’s Leaving Home”.

Speaking on the single, xo purp commented: ‘nova’ is a song about a girl called nova who falls in love with a guy but then gets into a bad set of circumstances. The 2nd part of the song where she gets lost in the forest is both literal and symbolic in the story. I usually do story songs from a male perspective so I wanted to switch things up.”

With a musical family background, it’s no wonder that xo purp found his own artistic calling. Never bound by one genre, xo purp focuses on telling different narratives from varying perspectives. At just 16 years old, he’s doubtless got a long career ahead of him.
