Asha Gold drops the video for her latest sparkling new single, "Only for the Night".
Marking the beginning of a new era for the artist, Asha Gold has her sights on the stars with new release, “Only for the Night”. With a Glastonbury 2022 performance as a kickstart, the rising artist has been releasing music every month since August, and October’s offering does not disappoint. Released today, the sultry video for the track was directed by none other than Christian Cargill, renowned for previous work featured at Tribeca Film Festival in New York.
Asha already has an impressive string of collaborations under her belt, from a collab with Bamily’s multi-instrumentalist and producer Louis Fulford Smith for her track “Up To Me”, to Grammy Award nominated Mitch Jones’ production on “One Of A Kind”. Always striving to represent her British-Asian heritage in her creative endeavours, Asha is unapologetic in her authenticity, driven by a desire to be role model she hoped for as a young girl writing songs.
The new track brings together light and dark, romantic but fierce, her powerhouse vocals glide across vibrant production from Mitch. The result is a track that feels like pure energy. Asha explains the meaning behind the track: “I wrote it about the disillusionment you feel when someone acts a certain way in one moment, and completely differently the next”.
Director Christian has also talked about the process of the video creation: “It’s always great to get to make a video for a track you love. ‘Only For the Night’ captures that exhilaration of early dating so vividly and I wanted to bring those moments to life and show the naivety and brutality of when that person disappears in an instant without warning. Snakes became a strong symbolism for this when writing the idea, often associated with temptation and lies but like those first dates, you can easily miss the warning signs whilst transfixed by someone’s presence.”
