DJ duo Overmono brought an electrifying energy and ravingly-good rhythms to a sold-out London crowd on Wednesday.
It’s not often that London ravers are found in their element mid-week. On Wednesday night, however, at a humble 7 pm, they showed up in droves to the Roundhouse, jittering with excitement for Overmono’s techno takeover.
Unsurprisingly it was a sell-out show. Overmono, AKA Welsh DJ duo and brothers Tom and Ed Russel, are on their World Tour, bringing to life Good Lies: a transcendental debut album which hit 11th in the UK charts. In the packed Chalk Farm venue, laser lights, smoke machines and trippy visuals provided a hypnotic backdrop for the duo’s dance-to-trance bangers. The set-list was studded with surprises including an unreleased remix of Ed’s hard-core tune, ‘Hackney Parrot’, released under his moniker Tessela. For Those I Love (David Balfe) also came out to perform over Overmono’s remix of his original tune, ‘I Have a Love’, which was clearly a fan’s favourite.
The crowd was ecstatic throughout and seemed to be still riding a high as they filed out onto TFL services. For the sacrifice of a long Thursday hungover at work, Overmono’s show was more than worth it.
