Australian brand R.M.Williams are ringing in 90 years of artisan craftsmanship with the launch of limited-edition merchandise, as well as a series of events.

Established 90 years ago with a long-standing commitment to quality handcrafted leather boots, apparel and accessories, R.M.Williams have plenty to celebrate. The brand are proudly commemorating their 90th Anniversary this week by recognising the birthday date of Reginald Murray ‘RM’ Williams, May 24th, as RM Day. The day will kick off a host of activities, including a limited-edition merchandise launch, as well as the opportunity for brand-fans to don their RMs and get involved.

The brand was born in 1932, when Reginald Murray Williams crafted an elastic-sided leather boot in the South Australian bush. Originally catering for stockmen and growing from a mail order business, their workshop first used in the 1970s remains a site of production for the brand. A testament to the apparel’s quality and popularity, nine decades later, hundreds of highly skilled artisans continue to handcraft leather goods for R.M.Williams using the same techniques as those before them.

The celebratory release of collaborative products this week includes boots, belts, apparel and lifestyle items. With all new styles made on-demand and handcrafted, the limited-edition Craftsman, Lady Yearling boots and Jerrawa belts come complete with 90th anniversary trims and a commemorative plaque.

Not only this, but the brand are offering people the chance to get a taste of the heritage craftsmanship for themselves: a new Makers Kit will be released on 27th May, complete with the materials, tools and instructions needed to craft a durable leather cover for RM’s classic book, The Bushman’s Handcrafts. A care tin is also available that includes the Stockman’s Shoe Polish in black or chestnut, plus Leather Conditioner, Brush and Polish Cloth.

Looking forward, R.M.Williams are dedicated to a steadfast commitment to Australian manufacturing and providing livelihoods to a growing number of local craftspeople. Offering a new generation of artisans the opportunity to preserve these heritage skills, with 90 years behind them – the future looks set to include many more to come.

The 90th anniversary capsule is available online and in store from 24th May 2022.
