We took to Hackney House on Wednesday evening for a celebration of our Spring issue.
On Wednesday we launched the latest print edition of Notion magazine, Notion 79 – The Break Through issue, with our first cover star, the magical Kali Uchis. To celebrate the launch, we took to curtain road’s Hackney House for a night of free drinks courtesy of BULLDOG GIN and Estrella Galicia, and fantastic music with Swatch, our friends, contributors and a few special guests.
Kicking off the night was Ønly who warmed up the crowd with a mix of hip hop, classic R&B and heavy hitters before handing over to Rashun K who kicked things up a gear with reggaeton, grime and dancehall banger back to back. Then it was time for our first live act of the night, the supremely talented Rachel Foxx, fresh from appearing in the pages of Notion 79 she wowed the crowd with her new, underground inspired R&B tracks. By eight thirty, the crowd was already packing out the dancefloor.
Of course, half the fun wouldn’t have happened without the help of the lovely folk at BULLDOG GIN who came through with drinks for the night, serving up citrus and cassis inspired cocktails. The launch is the first activation from the new partnership with the premium, modern gin brand, set to continue for the rest of 2018. Longtime partners, Estrella Galicia also got guests in the party mood. Partygoers also got a chance to take home a memento of the night thanks to the Swatch photobooth.
Later in the evening, Notion 79 star ELIZA came through with a stunning showcase of her material, performing tracks ‘Livid’ and ‘Wasn’t Looking’ to the delight of partygoers before DJ duo CLiQ took to the decks to kick up the BPM a few notches ahead of the night’s headline act, Shakka.
Taking to the stage with boundless enthusiasm and energy Shakka proved the perfect closing act for the night, running through bangers like ‘Man Down’ and ‘Heart the Weekend’ while encouraging the audience to get their skank on. Photographer Zac Mahrouche was on hand to capture it all, relive the night in the photo gallery below.
