This weekend, live out your Step Up fantasy as dancers battle to be crowned the UK's street style champion.
From Saturday, 20th May to the 21st, budding dancers are invited down to Battersea Power Station for the Dance Your Style competition. Following a series of auditions across the UK, the time has come for Londoners to battle for the few remaining spots at the UK final, which will take place on the Sunday.
The free event hosts some of the UK’s most electric DJs, alongside the one and only Aston Merrygold, who’s hosting the event. A half-time performance from one of the biggest rappers right now, as well as dancehall, rap, and pop will be soundtracking the weekend.
As part of the festivities, a brand new Afrodance competition “Bring The Vim” will take place on Saturday. Judged by dance masters HomeBros, the battle will showcase dance styles from Amapiano through to Naija Street Style.
Ahead of street dance making its debut at the Olympics next year, Red Bull Dance Your Style’s nationwide takeover couldn’t come at a better time. Celebrating the diversity of dance in the UK, dancers and spectators of all from Hip Hop to House, and from Afro Dance to Voguing should head on down to Battersea.
