DJ, presenter and all-round female boss, Emerald Rose Lewis leaks her Valentines top 10Trax for all the lovers and single pringles out there.

Drive Time Rinse FM DJ, Emerald is the baddest chick on the decks when it comes to setting the vibe for any event. Growing up with a DJ father in the ’70s and ’80s, Emerald admits to sneaking into her dad’s record collection after school to play the latest reggae, dub and hip hop tracks. Most recently she’s been on-stage with M.I.A. offering up the beats to her music at events of Burberry and onstage at festivals.

Still inspired by these tracks today, Emerald has created a playlist which she says “For the lovers, heartbreakers, heartbroken and the lonely hearts club” this Valentine’s day. Constantly dividing her time between stroking her cat, presenting and searching for the latest bangers to kick off her sets, we grabbed time with the bubbly soul unpick her Top 10Trax.

Emerald will play AMP Lost & Found festival, taking place in Malta 2nd – 5th May 2019. Tickets available here.

"U Were Always, Pt.2" by Wiley feat. Skepta & Belly

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhdeDSilk0s

"This one is definitely for the heartbreakers. I have a name for this kind of music, ‘girly but grimey’ of which I have a fantastic Spotify playlist I’m working on. This one’s a break up song - the message essentially is ‘it’s not you, it’s me, bare more tings in the sea.’ You should use this one for some dutch courage before you write your Dear John."

"After Dark" by Drake FT. Static Major & Ty Dolla Sign

"This one’s for lovers. The long term lovers. You’re having some issues and your man is misbehaving. You’re being patient. But you’re not happy about it. He’s got some making up to do, and he’s ready. What’s the best way to make up?"

"Nite Nite" by Kano Ft. The Streets

"This is another one for the lovers, but this time, the brand new lovers. It’s the honeymoon period. This is a really special one. She is always on your mind. You’ve got a name for her, you call her ladybird, because she always plays red in connect four."

"Heal You" by Sinead Harnett Ft. Wretch 32

"This one is for the lonely hearts club. You’ve got to end it, you can’t heal him, he can only heal himself. He is in a lot of pain, but it’s hurting you too and you can’t be the one to fix it. Fun fact: Sinead actually wrote this about a friend, not a lover, but it spoke to me during an emotional time with a past lover of my own. DISCLAIMER: If you are going through a breakup, you may shed a healthy tear listening to this one."

"Together" by Ruff Squad Wiley

"This one is another one for the lovers, and it’s the long term lovers again. When are we gonna really do this? This ain’t working, we ain’t working, it’s now or never, Heather. What’s it gonna be?"

"Too Deep" by DVSN

"Ok.. this one is most definitely for the lovers. It’s about to go DOWN. I’m not sure what to write about this one, I’m worried my mum might read it. Let’s just say, it’s deep… *crying laughing face emoji*"

"Wifey Riddim" by AJ Tracey

"Lonely hearts club, or maybe the not so lonely hearts club? You’re single this valentine’s day, but you’re certainly not alone. I’ll let AJ tell you the rest. Please use protection."

"My Favourite Part" by Mac Miller Ft. Ariana Grande

http:// https://youtu.be/Ndf-eMyEVG8f

"This one is for the lovers. This video was recorded when Mac and Ariana were very much in love. You can literally see the love between them in this very tender on stage performance. She doesn’t know how beautiful she is, but you most certainly do. Mac Miller, may your beautiful soul rest in peace."

"My Mind" by Yebba

"This one is for the heartbroken. You say you love me, but I know it’s a lie. Prepare to have your socks blown off by one of the most incredible singers of our time. If you haven’t seen this video before, you are welcome."

"She Lives In My Lap" by Outkast

"This is one of my favourite songs of all time. The meaning is up for interpretation, but I interpret it as a relationship that is conflicted. These lovers can’t commit. But the physical is fantastic. It’s a battle between heart and head. Forever his fiancé. The man thinks the ball is in his court, but he’s head over heels, so who’s really in control here?"
