Reggae dancehall legend Sweetie Irie shares his new single “Shaker” and chooses 10Trax that you won’t be able to resist.

Sweetie Irie, otherwise known as Dean Bent, has been a staple of the reggae dancehall scene for decades, edging in and out of the Top 30 charts for the entire sweep of his musical career.

He was first spotted by Aswad’s Angus Gaye who enlisted him to MC on the track “On And On” – which hit number 1 spots worldwide. Irie’s debut album ‘DJ Of The Future’ made tsunami waves and established him as a musician not to mess with. He collaborated on the Gorillaz number 2 charting single “Clint Eastwood”, which for many soundtracked the noughties.

2016 reigned in an instant hit collab with Kideko, George Kwali, and Nadia Rose for “Crank It”, while another big year followed with 2017 seeing Irie perform on Top of the Pops and at the BBC Proms as their first-ever reggae artist. A-lister collaborations with Redlight, Gwen Stefani, Ian Brown, Sly and Robbie, Bobby Digital, Maxi Priest, Shy Fx, Congo Natty, and Roni Size ensued, as well as performances at Glastonbury, Wireless, Lovebox, and Boomtown.

Teaming up with Toddla T and Jeremiah Asiamah, Sweetie Irie has launched a new summer-ready track “Shaker”, featuring Stefflon Don and S1mba. In honour of the track’s release, the reggae legend has picked 10Trax to turn up this summer. Dive in!
