The women-led festival will also see Miraa May, Darkoo, Shaybo and Dreya Mac all perform on 19th-20th August in Sweden.
Headlined by Notion alumni, Stefflon Don, and Nigerian Afropop artist of the moment, Ayra Starr, Ladieslovehipop festival is set to bring together some of the biggest and best hip-hop, R&B, soul and pan-African music artists and DJs to Sweden.
Taking place at Fållan and Slakthusområdet on August 19th and 20th, the festival was put together by creative collective, Ladieslovehiphop, in partnership with Live Nation Sweden and Luger.
Female musical talent is often underrepresented in festival line-ups. Every year, fans and artists alike express disappointment at well-known festivals once again billing predominantly male acts. Ladieslovehiphop wanted to change that and create a women-led festival that truly highlights the immense female talent in the hip-hop, R&B, soul, and pan-African genres.
Along with Stefflon Don and Ayra Starr, Atlanta’s Baby Tate will be playing at the Ladieslovehiphop festival. UK drill star, Ivorian Doll, and ‘Queen of the South’, Shaybo, will also perform across the two-day festival, as will R&B artist, Ojerime.
Ladieslovehiphop festival promises to also bring some of the hottest up-and-coming female talents to their stages, including viral sensation Dreya Mac, rap artist Cristale, Swedish Grammy-nominated artist/DJ Nápoles, and UK R&B/jazz riser, Jaz Karis.
As well as fantastic artists across three stages, Ladieslovehiphop Festival will offer vegetarian food stalls, and art installations and exhibitions, with each night ending with DJ sets from South Africa’s amapiano sensation, Uncle Waffles, UK ‘Queen of RnB Edit’, Jordss.
Speaking about the festival, Ladieslovehiphop collective founders Nataša Marijana and Rebecca Tegegne say, “It feels amazing to finally have a proper festival summer after these past two years. We have curated a line-up of artists and DJs that we truly love and believe our community is excited to see perform. We will transform Stockholms’ very own meatpacking district into an indoor and outdoor festival area where our visitors can enjoy concerts during the day and dance all night long to DJ sets”.
