In an ode to their artistic roots, Vans' bring back the 80's inspired Lady Vans collection with a contemporary DIY twist.
Since 1966 cultural and artistic movements from Cali’s surf culture to the rise of skateboarding have been adopted by Vans into their aesthetic and stylised by the iconic brand to make it their own.
Vans are honouring this legacy with their bold new re-vamp of The Lady Vans collection – a women’s line which was first released in the ‘80s and ‘90s. The OG collection was developed by designers from different areas of the brand who each made a page of a zine that accompanied the new apparel.
Inspired by the retro graphics of the zine and the spirit of creative collaboration, Vans have brought the aesthetics and prints from the original series into the new Lady Vans collection.
Featuring oversized graphic tees, hoodies, caps and footwear, the series combines bright pinks and neon greens with screen-printed Zine graphics and embroidery, making for pieces that are classicly vans yet striking and contemporary.
What really makes the series special is that key pieces of the Lady Vans collection are made to be customised by the owner. “Cut here” instructions inside the garment show you how to crop, alter and tie the pieces so that you can truly make them your own. With the new collection, Vans are celebrating the creative, “off the wall” heritage of the brand and its wearers in the best way they know-how. We’re all in.
