In the week following fashion month, we’ve witnessed some garish footwear announcements: from cowboy Crocs to a Spider-Man themed Adidas range.

Now that fashion month is over, and people are ready to dress down into their autumn comfies, apparel brands are figuring out how to keep our attention. Collaborations, celebrity-fronted campaigns and limited-edition, head-turning pieces are being announced left, right and centre.

The world of footwear has provided some particularly interesting and debatable moments. Here are three head-turning shoe releases we’ve come across this week. Will you be rocking them this season?

Cowboy Crocs

Ever since Crocs collaborated with Balenciaga in 2018, the iconic, love-it-or-hate-it footwear brand has been doing wild things to its OG clogs. And now, the brand is entering its Wild West moment, announcing that a cowboy boot clog will be hitting shelves later this month, on International Croc Day.

The Classic Croc Cowboy Boot is about as un-classic as a shoe can get; the base comes in faux crocodile skin, whilst the shaft is embroidered with metallic disco-themed embroidery. Adding to its novelty, the shoe is complete with a spinning spur. Be warned, the winter boot is far from weatherproof; Croc’s signature perforated holes remain. The polarising silhouette only comes in a sleek black colourway so far.

Super Hero Adidas

Everyone’s talking about Adidas x Moncler, but what about Adidas x Marvel? The sportswear brand is coming out with a ‘Venomised’ shoe collection, to celebrate the launch of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 video game. It’s not the first time the global mega-brand has joined forces with the superhero franchise. In 2020, Adidas honoured another Spider-Man game with a pair of black and red superstars, but this collaboration has been designed to appeal to both gamers and athletes.

Spider-Man-themed Adidas Ultraboosts, Ultra 4D trainers, football boots, sports kit, sweatshirts and even compression tights will be dropping on September 20.

Bronson’s Blue New Balance

Action Bronson’s partnership with New Balance continues. The American rapper, chef and wrestler previously collaborated with the Boston-based brand on its 99v06 releases. Hitting the ground running with his fresh take, the first editions sold successfully and sent resellers into a frenzy.

Yesterday the ‘Baby Blue’ rapper took to Instagram and teased what looked to be a new collaboration, this time on the label’s 1906Rs. Sporting the silhouette in a never-before-seen colour palette, this particular New Balance has had a recent surge in celeb popularity. Taylor Swift was spotted in the Ganni edition earlier this week, so it would make sense for the brand to keep up the hype and get Action on board. On theme with Fashion Month’s favourite colour, the photos of the still-to-be-confirmed shoe show off a bright blue hue, matching his exclusive Fuck That’s Delicious merch.
