British fashion icons YMC and Barbour International have released their debut collaborative collection, available at FLANNELS, combining motorcycle heritage with functional fashion.

Iconic British brands YMC and Barbour International have debuted their first collaboration for Autumn Winter, a collection that draws on the heritage of both brands. Featuring a range of outerwear styles, including wax jackets, fleeces, trousers and more, the designs take inspiration from Barbour International’s motorcycle heritage alongside YMC’s functional fashionwear.

The result is a collection that is both authentic and contemporary, providing new staples from the pioneering pair. About the collab, YMC’s Creative Director, Fraser Moss, said “It’s been an honour to work with the truly iconic British brand Barbour which has been in existence since 1894. We were asked to collaborate on their Barbour International label, the pioneers of the wax motorcycle suit and the legendary Original Green bike jacket designed in 1951. This jacket has been adorned by the likes of Steve McQueen and is as iconic as the 5-pocket Jean and the white t-shirt.”

The collection includes three new jackets, the Oversized Rider Wax Jacket, So Not Up Wax Jacket and Dirt Gang Casual Jacket. All three, according to Moss, take “classic details from the Barbour archive and put them through the YMC blender to recreate a modern take on the bike gang”. With various colourways, and functional additions such as detachable hoods and fleece-liners, the items are as versatile and stylish as they are practical.

Ian Bergin, Director of Menswear at Barbour International adds, “this is the first time that we have worked with YMC and it has been exciting to see how they have interpreted our archive.  It is a collection that retains the authenticity and heritage of Barbour International and cleverly combines motorcycle, military, and workwear influences in a modern translation of style.”

Alongside the jackets, layering pieces such as the Albourne Crew and Falmer Hoodie, both crafted from 100% American fleece cotton, make another useful staple. The Buxted Trousers are also made in cotton, with patch pockets. Waxed cotton is key to the rest of the collection, from the Trapper sports cap in three colourways, to an accessory pouch.
