Magsy flexes his songwriting capabilities with new EP, 'Brite Nite'.
After hitting the scene a mere number of months ago, synth-pop artist Magsy has fast become one on listener’s radars. Following up previous singles “Truth Is” and “Noisy Mind” with a new EP, his latest project offers songwriting prowess in spades, and demonstrates why the artist is not one to be ignored.
Based in the Bay Area, Magsy honed his craft in recent years working with various artists in the Los Angeles creative scene, as well as during collaborative stints working with K-Pop artists in South Korea. His formative years had a further impact on shaping the young artist, spending his early days working in construction. An unlikely musician’s origin story, Magsy describes how it allowed him to develop an appreciation for graft and a confidence in his ability for creation: “I think that construction has made me a better musician as I believe my two hands are just as capable as any”.
Born into a biracial family, questions of identity and belonging are also central to Magsy’s output. Writing his first songs at 14, the process became a means to mediate his personal experiences and feelings – a process the artist continues in his new EP. Recounting his musical influences as 80’s centred, new EP, ‘Brite Nite’, is one that in the artist’s words: “everyone could dance to with their loved ones”. Expertly scoring grooving pop beats with soulful lyrics, we’re sure with this release, 2022 will be a big one for Magsy.
