Come behind the scenes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s digital cover shoot with Notion, in collaboration with Braun.

For Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s latest cover story shoot, we wanted to show how music from the 50s, 60s and 70s has catalysed in the footballer a love of the style from these eras, translating into facial hair and grooming choices too. With the help of Braun, DCL wanted to show us how he achieves looks inspired by the iconic Rat Pack, Motown legends and funk flamboyance, and how Braun’s tools help him reach the “finishing touch” on all these versions of himself.

It’s all in accordance with Braun’s ethos that “men should feel free and empowered to express themselves and who there are, how they want to look and who they want to be, with no barriers or boundaries to their self-expression. And they should embrace their own individualism with their grooming choices too” – a resonant idea for a public figure in a field often dominated by rigidly traditional definitions of masculinity.

We go behind the scenes with the footballer as he explains why looking good and feeling good in his own way — from face to toe — is so important for both the player’s on-pitch game and for a self-defined off-pitch identity.
