As tickets for their headline tour go on sale, we catch up with the Liverpudlian indie rockers.

Formed in Liverpool back in 2012, indie rock quartet Circa Waves have gone from strength to strength. Next March will mark two years since the release of their second album Different Creatures, but thankfully they’ve just announced new music. Their third album What’s It Like Over There? drops in April and is certain to be just as epic as their sophomore release.

Despite suffering writers block, frontman Kieran Shudall discovered a lyrical goldmine: an old notebook full of scripts and scribbles that he produced while on an American tour supporting Two Door Cinema Club. Like the opening of floodgates, the album was written within a month, but don’t be fooled by the quick creative process, it’s deep emotive and thought-provoking, bubbling with themes of emotional fragile and complex relationships. “I’m really getting into the world of ‘let the song be the greatest song it could be’, and not let the restrictions of ‘we’re a rock band’ rule,” Shudall offers on the album. “We wanted to make it as big and powerful and as cinematic as it could be. Being completely open to using everything at your whim is really exciting.”

To add to their list of endeavours, they’ve also just announced their headline tour which seems them heading across the UK and stopping at cities including Sheffield, Manchester, Nottingham and London. Tickets are on sale now. As they gear up for a huge 2019, we sat down with the lads to ask some intimate questions as our most recent internet crush victims.
