As part of a limited series, we get an AAA pass to LFWM and explore the creative chaos backstage for some of London's most promising designers. Next up, Liam Hodges.
Liam Hodges is the king of cool – that seems like an obvious cliche, but it’s true. For his AW19 collection, he continued on his trajectory of show-stopping designs that further push his unique design aesthetic. However this season, Hodges vowed to turn his back on nostalgia, stating that fashions dependency on the past makes the here and now seem even more bleak. Instead, Hodges looked deep into the future, referencing sci-fi films and next gen technology to create a collection made for the Blade Runner 2049 era.
Pieced between futuristic prints and colour combos was a unique Ellesse collaboration, which saw the brands ski-wear reimagined with the Liam Hodges touch. It was bold and graphic, with thick ski-jackets and footwear that could’ve be plucked right off the Back to the Future set. To mark the collab the two brands threw a mega afterparty at The George Tavern, where ice sculptures and a guest-list including some of fashion’s most prolific faces proved that Hodges is London’s next big thing. For once, we’re feeling optimistic about what the future holds…
