Photographer Thomas Wood allows us to peek behind the curtain at one of the country's most loved festivals.

Leeds Festival – a rite of passage for many where memories and bonds are sometimes created or destroyed. Whether you have been or not, there will be a sense of nostalgia surrounding the Northern powerhouse festival. One thing is for certain, their line-up will always represent the culture at the current time, whilst paying homage to those who have led the way.

Acclaimed photographer Thomas Wood got to cross the line between attendee and performer as he got access backstage to shoot intimate portraits of some of the biggest acts in the game. Shooting them in his unique and tender light reveals humanity in the artists – a warm and soft haze as Thomas perfectly captures the innocence and hope that surrounds the summertime.

Check out Thomas’ series of portraits below that invite you to gaze into the artists as human beings rather than someone on your screen.
