Swedish creative polymath Korantemaa debuts her sleek and self-directed music video for her latest single 'matches' taken from her upcoming debut EP.

There’s a strong sense of intrigue surrounding Korantemaa, the moniker of 19-year-old Johanna Karlsson, who hails from a small town in the south of Sweden.

As this rising star currently goes from strength to strength, it appears to be time for Korantemaa to jump from the online world into her own spotlight after garnering an impressive but not surprising 25 million views across her YouTube channel.

Korantemaa’s latest single, ‘matches’, accompanied by an artsy and DIY vibe video is essentially the perfect introduction to the artist who will be soundtracking your days at home. Speaking on the track, Korantemaa revealed, “It’s about wanting to be seen as a whole person. Sometimes people have an idealised picture of you that isn’t really true to what you are and when you show sides that don’t match with that picture, people get uncomfortable. You have to accept and acknowledge everything that person is.” If that isn’t some words of truth for a Thursday then we don’t know what is.

The track itself is a harmonious melting-pot of Lo-Fi production courtesy of Ed Thomas combined with Korantemaa’s trance-like and ambient vocal abilities. A match made in heaven, Korantemaa is a multi-hyphenate creative who is crossing boundaries and borders with grace and ease. Here for it.
