Notion x No Boundaries Mix Series: Bristol

Talent has no boundaries and neither does music. When we think about the heart of the UK music scene, we often think about London. But with the rise of new talent across the country and pockets of new scenes emerging across the UK, its times to shine a light on the creatives pushing the sounds in their own cities.

 

The collective mix highlights some the best upcoming DJs hailing from Bristol, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester and Nottingham. This is an audio experience which spans across multiple genres and styles. We’re excited to share with you some of the underrepresented talent that you don’t usually get to hear from.

 

Get ready to listen to a wave of new DJ talent who have curated mixes to represent their city and their sound. Talent has no boundaries and first up it’s Bristol!

 

Vanessa Maria is a DJ, Presenter and Mental Health Advocate based in between Bristol and London. Named as one of Bristol’s most exciting rising talents, she made her mark on 1020 radio sharing her love for UK Rap and Drill. On the dancefloor, Vanessa showcases sounds from around the world, infusing high-energy Baile Funk rhythms with everything from Afro-Trap to Hard Drum. A regular on the airways; catch Vanessa on NTS Radio, Rinse FM and BBC 1xtra showcasing the very best re-edits, future beats, and club music. With recent collaborations with VICE, Boiler Room, and Mixcloud, and regular appearances at the rising party series and label, Club Djembe, she is one to watch. 

 

J Oh Zee, Dj, radio presenter and event manager who explores and showcases the underground bass scene. With regular appearances in both Bristol and London radio and live shows including the likes of Rinse FM, 1020 radio, Noods and Reprezent, alongside Eskimo dance, garage nation and Spentshell events, Expect heavy bass lines alongside funky and melodic 140BPM sounds from the Shellingz CEO.
