Iconic rapper, Slick Rick, has teamed up with Clarks Originals to celebrate the heritage around New York's famous neighbourhood, The Bronx.
The most sampled hip-hop artist in history, Slick Rick is an icon of the rap world. With multiple GRAMMY nominations and multi-platinum records to his name, The Ruler has now linked up with Clarks Originals to celebrate his upbringing in The Bronx and affinity with the footwear brand.
Curated and conceptualised by Slick Rick himself, ‘MindBody-Sole’ is a mini-documentary that tells the story of Slick Rick’s longstanding relationship with Clarks Originals.
A story of community, purpose and heritage, the vignette-style visual follows Slick Rick around landmark locations in The Bronx, as he makes his way to the garment district in Manhattan, an area that greatly influenced the rapper’s love for fashion, art and design.
In ‘MindBody-Sole’, Slick Rick goes into detail about his affinity with Clarks Originals, specifically the Wallabee shoe, a design that he has been wearing and customizing since his emergence onto the scene in the early 1980s. In fact, the legendary rapper has been equated with shoe’s success in the scene.
