After a 25-year hiatus, PUMA bring back their iconic Mostro Sneaker, an avant-garde creation that ensures you to stand out from the crowd.

In 1999, PUMA’s Mostro sneaker emerged as a ground-breaking creation that defied creations, embracing experimentation and introducing a fresh aesthetic. Fast forward to 2023, its highly anticipated comeback not only reaffirms its individuality, but also emphasises its uniqueness, positioning it as a shoe that stands far from the rest.

Showcasing its hybrid flair, the Mostro—a name derived from the Italian word for ‘monster’—finds inspiration in two distinct domains: the sleek but resilient sprinting spikes of the 60s and the laid-back surfing shoes of the 80s. While maintaining its timeless yet understated silhouette, the Mostro boats numerous defining features, including its distinctive spiked soul and versatile strap closure.

Putting a modern-day twist on the archival design, the 2024 Mostro features a mesh upper and a sleek overlaying PUMA Formstrip in metallic silver, bridging the gap between sport and style blending practicality with a touch of nostalgia, the sneaker incorporates the elastic strap closure from the 1999 and Lyrca lining for enhanced comfort.

Demonstrating that the revival of the Mostro extends beyond a mere resurgence in footwear, PUMA collaborated with photographer Chris Maggio on a campaign that is a true celebration of individuality. Through his lens, we witness the Mostro through the daily lives of several unique New York City dwellers. Bold and unexpected characters, embodying the roles of two NYC archetypes – the Gen Z tastemaker and the Tourist – just like the Mostro, the characters stand out as different from the rest.

The PUMA Mostro will debut in a light grey and yellow colourway, and will be available at selected retailers worldwide including Dover Street Market, Slam Jam and END. Clothing from 13th January 2024.
