Soulful RnB songstress Mabel McVey covers Notion's 76th issue.

Music runs in the blood for Mabel McVey, whose parents include Swedish icon Neneh Cherry and songwriter and producer Cameron McVey. A career in music may have seemed like the obvious choice for the ‘Finders Keepers’ singer, and with three EPs already under her belt, she’s carved out a niche sound that pays homage to the music she loved growing up.

However, in her cover feature for Notion’s 76th issue, Mabel reveals she hasn’t always been the confident artist we see today and has had to overcome extreme shyness and anxiety to get there. She also discusses how she uses “the highs and lows” to her advantage, channeling this into her music, resulting in relatable lyrics and honest songwriting, following in the footsteps of her 90s heroes. With a fierce determination to make it as one of the greats and with her musical family cheering her on from the sidelines, Mabel’s set to distinguish herself from her contemporaries as an heir to the glorious pop throne.
