Jack Garratt tries his hand at pizza-making whilst chatting about his instinctive approach to music and more, before an exclusive performance in the latest Behind The Base episode.

On the latest episode of Behind The Base with PizzaExpress and Nordoff Robbins, multi-award winning singer, songwriter and composer Jack Garratt tries his hand at pizza-making whilst chatting about his instinctive approach to music and journey so far, alongside an exciting announcement.

Admitting during the episode he’s never made a pizza before, this doesn’t seem to hold Jack back as they put together a ‘reimagined” Sloppy Giuseppe. He discusses the innate human need for creativity, as well as reflecting on his 2016 album ‘Phase’, and the awards that came alongside, including a BRIT. Jack explains his tense relationship to that time in his life, and the struggle to truly believe he was deserving.

Jack also tells the incredible story of meeting a student at a meet-and-greet early in his career, the student telling him he’d experienced memory loss. Finding Jack Garratt tickets in his bank transactions and subsequently going to the gig, it was Jack’s music that helped trigger his journey to regaining memories.

Decisively slicing their freshly cooked pizzas, Jack explains the track he will perform. “Time” is a track with continued meaning for the artist in terms of the power of memory, and has never been played live on piano until now.

As he announces in this episode, Jack will be playing at new venue The Outernet in November alongside continuing to release new music, and will be embarking on a UK tour in March.
