In the first of a brand new series with Pizza Express and music charity Nordoff Robbins, hear an exclusive performance from JP Cooper as he whips up a pizza and chats about his journey so far.

Notion has teamed up with Pizza Express and Nordoff Robbins to go Behind the Base and chat with some of the UK’s best and brightest musical talent. Hear about the impact music has had on their lives and watch exclusive live performances from each artist featured in the series.

First to go Behind the Base is JP Cooper, the singer-songwriter best known for his hit singalong tunes, “September Song” and “Perfect Strangers (ft. Jonas Blue)”. In an exclusive interview, we hear about JP’s life and the power music has to connect with people as he makes a delicious Padana pizza.

Whilst being put through his paces in a Pizza Express kitchen, JP speaks about the pizza oven he purchased in lockdown, collaborating with grime artists like Bugsy Malone and Stormzy, working with gospel choirs and local communities, as well as revealing the meaning behind some of his most powerful songs. Plus, don’t miss his exclusive acoustic performance at the end, as JP performs an acoustic rendition of his song, “Masterpiece”.
