The undeniable queen of street style, Bella Hadid's first fashion line makes her off-duty model look seem that little bit more achievable.
Following this year’s profiles with Vogue and I-D, the launch of her drinks brand, starring in a Balenciaga campaign and walking almost every high-profile show the ’22 Fashion Weeks had to offer, supermodel and entrepreneur Bella Hadid is the definition of booked and busy. However, never too busy to give the people what they want it seems, as the model this week dropped her debut exclusive fashion line alongside brand ABOUT YOU.
An established tastemaker amongst millenials and Gen-Z alike, it only takes Bella Hadid strolling around New York eating pizza in her Mini Uggs for them to become this seasons must-have shoe. The ‘Bella Hadid effect’ echoes Regina George’s status as a trend-setter to the attendees of Mean Girls high, with “One time I saw Bella Hadid wearing army pants and flip-flops”, rattling through Instagram’s metaphorical halls.
Released alongside a campaign starring Bella herself, complete with a long black wig, apparently the star was involved in the design process from start to finish, and styled the released imagery. ABOUT YOU’s Team Lead of Exclusive Cooperations, Sofia Hagemeier, describes: “When we first met with Bella, she was really excited to discuss her ideas and vision with us and turn them into reality. For the design process, we sat together for hours, and Bella even brought in pieces from her own wardrobe as inspiration. She was in the lead throughout the creation process and a real team player. The whole team loves working with Bella”.
The ‘Model Off Duty’ capsule is 90s inspired, ranging from suit combos (mostly sold-out already, here’s hoping for a restock) to flowy skirts and going-out tops.
Bella herself explains: “It’s been a pleasure working so closely with the ABOUT YOU team to bring my vision to life. They gave me the creative space to design the collection the way I wanted to and I had so much fun styling the shoot with these gorgeous pieces while incorporating some of my own clothes as well. It was a joy to have the autonomy to be heavily involved throughout the entire process. I put a lot of heart and soul into this collection and can’t wait for others to enjoy it as much as I do”.
The collection is relatively affordable, with prices ranging from 25 to 200 euros on the ABOUT YOU site. Bella really is giving us a chance to emulate some of her style, personally I’ll be finding it hard to resist.
