Experimental folk outfit Firewoodisland share emotive new release “Who Knew”, accompanied by a cinematic music video.

Made up of songwriters Stian Vedøy and Abi Eleri, Firewoodisland are an experimental folk duo making ‘mountain-pop’ music. Back with a brand-new release “Who Knew” is a melodic single accompanied by an escapist music video.

Working towards the release of their third album, this year is destined to be a stand-out for the duo as they are scheduled to share a string of new singles each month. Their latest “Who Knew” is released as the duo’s debut single of 2023 and welcomes sombre guitar plucks with nonchalant vocal delivery. Layering up their harmonies with delicate acoustics, “Who Knew” is a whimsical release to get lost in.

Speaking about their brand-new release, Firewoodisland says: “It tells a story about meeting a person that captivates your whole being and changes your world views for the better. “Who Knew” was written during a weekend retreat to the Isle of Wight. Abi turned to me (Stian) and said ‘you’ve never written a love song about me’, so he wrote this song. It’s a story about meeting a person that captivates your whole being and changes your world views for the better – basically the story of how we met in university halls in Cardiff”.
