We get the one of the most charting UK producers, Duke Dumont, to curate a playlist that'll rid you of your Monday blues!
Just in case you need an introduction to Duke Dumont – which is probably ridiculous as he is still the reigning king of UK chart music – then here is a brief recap of Duke.
Multi-Grammy-nominated Dumont has amassed over 2 billion streams across his back-catalogue of previous anthems, scoring huge success with platinum-selling UK #1 singles ‘Need U (100%)’and ‘I Got U’. Duke also produced ‘Swish Swish’, the biggest single from Katy Perry’s “Prism” album, as well as writing for Nicki Minaj and reworking tracks for the likes of Mark Ronson and Nile Rodgers.
Ok, introduction over (which could have listed a lot more achievements on there, but we figured we would keep it sweet). Growing up in the UK in the last decade – particularly if you were a mid-teen sneaking out and beginning to enter club culture – it was near enough impossible not to hear Dumont’s tracks playing multiple times a night. Then, to also hear those same tracks cross over into normal culture as Dumont’s tracks were played anywhere they could be. What I’m saying here is Duke Dumont was everywhere and for good reason. Tracks like “Need U (100%) and ‘I Got U’ are the soundtrack to a lot of kids memories growing up and entering adulthood.
With that in mind, Duke Dumont is showing no sign of slowing down as he continues to craft and mould tune after tune that will be the soundtrack to a lot more upcoming memories for the kids in the clubs. Dumont’s latest charter comes in the form of “The Power” – featuring stellar vocals from Zak Abel and production from CamelPhat – and already is cemented in Dumont’s incredibly long hall of fame.
We decided to get Dumont himself to give us some insights into the tracks he can’t stop spinning right now, but before you do that, get hooked on “The Power” below!
