After the stunning release of Jordan Stephens incredibly honest and vulnerable new track, 'Son Of A Gun', we got the boy wonder to give us an insight into his daily life at home.

If it seems like we are big fans of Jordan Stephens it’s because we 100% are. With the release of his latest track ‘Son Of A Gun’, Stephens is carrying on cementing his status of creating some of the most powerfully honest and raw work, proving there is always strength to be found in the frightening ordeal of being vulnerable.

With Mental Health Awareness week concluding last week, it’s always going to be Mental Health Awareness Week for us, and it should be for you too as the world continues to trudge through tumultuous and terrifying times – the only thing we can control is ourselves. We caught up Jordan for a video chat last week where he offered his personal tips and routines on how you can keep an eye on your mind as mental health will never be a linear process – there’s going to be good days and bad days. Jordan has been through his fair share of bad days and wants to let you know the bad days are important just as the good days are.

Stephens latest track, ‘Son Of A Gun’, sits at the intersection of nostalgic R&B and pop. Becoming known for his idiosyncratic lyrical offering, Jordan doesn’t hold back and reveals his emotions with his chest on the track as it addresses the cycles of trauma in young men that a fatherless generation have found themselves in. Representation will always be of the highest importance and having a figure like Jordan Stephens addressing somewhat uncomfortable but necessary conversations within his music relates to the fact that whatever you’re feeling or thinking should be released from you in a healthy way.

If sharing his tips and advice in our IGTV video wasn’t enough, Jordan is letting us into his daily routine in isolation at home involving walks with his dog, exercise, cleaning, journaling and practising stillness. Of course, doing all of these things are easier said than done, but it’s about allowing yourself to go at whatever pace feels comfortable for you and not feeling guilty about it. Dive into the latest track from Jordan below and allow yourself kindness, it’s one of the most powerful things you can give to yourself in these difficult times.
