Producer and songwriter 220 Kid goes Behind The Base to get real about mental health, the impact music has had on his life and much more, as he makes his first pizza and performs his new single live.
Platinum selling artist, producer and songwriter, 220 Kid, joins Pizza Express host Ben to go Behind The Base in a new episode of the series.
Making his first ever pizza, 220 Kid opens up about the surreal experience of being nominated for his second BRIT Award for Song of the Year, and the story behind his moniker.
Placing a bet with himself at the age of 21 to raise £1,000,000 for charity, 220 Kid has run 220 miles for charity in pink Y-fronts, attempted a swim across the English Channel and was even stopped by police during one effort.
Next, 220 Kid chats about his musical collaborations. In the past, he has worked with the likes of GRACEY, Billen Ted, LANY and JC Stewart, amongst others. His emotional new track, “Another Life”, features vocalist Jem Cooke. 220 speaks on how their collaboration came together and how his heartbreak was cause for inspiration. Later in the episode, he performs the track live.
An active ally to the LGBTQI+ community, 220 Kid tells Ben about the safe spaces at his gigs, and how he looks to inspire and support young people as a role model, all while making a Vegetarian Sloppy Giuseppe pizza.
Whilst loading up their pizzas with tasty toppings, 220 Kid opens up about therapy, male mental health and how music has helped him.
As the pizzas cook, Ben whizzes 220 Kid through a quickfire Q&A, where he reveals he would love to work with Mark Ronson and meet Calvin Harris.
220 Kid is then joined downstairs by a vocalist for an electric rendition of his new track, “Another Life”, a collab with Jem Cooke.
