Lexie Palms releases her debut single, "Can It Be Me", a soft R&B/soul number that makes her feel at home.
Hailing from Porto but now based in London, Lexie Palms is a singer, songwriter and producer that’s making her way into the R&B/soul scene with her gentle vocals and smooth melodies.
Lexie’s moniker is derived from her place of birth – Leça da Palmeira – and she’s said that it keeps her feeling grounded and connected to her homeland, even when she’s far away. Her new song, “Can It Be Me” connects her love and longing for the ocean with her hometowns of Palmeira and Porto. All these factors remain very present in her music.
“’Can It Be Me’ was the first track I made after taking a one-year break in songwriting and producing. That was straight after I graduated from university and the stress of constantly trying to figure out what would come next in my career got the best of me,” Lexie explained.
The song “marked a shift in that mindset and unlocked a feeling of hope and desire to go further with my music. It’s about realising that when you’re hungry for more and really do it just for pure enjoyment and happiness, that’s when you start moving forward.”
