Forward-thinking LA-based producer Kan Wakan releases his compelling new track “Shining Bright Truth” featuring Rachel Fannan
Since releasing his debut LP ‘Moving On’ in 2014, Kan Wakan’s career has really taken off. Dubbed by Yahoo! as one of their “Best New Artists” as well as one of L.A. Weekly’s “10 Best Young L.A. Songwriters”, he has also collaborated with the likes of Thundercat and toured alongside Lianne La Havas and The Arctic Monkeys.
Kan Wakan’s newest offering, “Shining Bright Truth”, only goes to affirm this accolade. Opening with a brooding drumbeat – layered with Rachel Fannan’s smoky vocals – Wakan develops an alluring soundscape that leads the listener through a hypnotic narrative about a mysterious stranger.
Further contextualising the track, Kan Wakan explains it’s “A note to self about acknowledging the occasional tendency to be insincere with oneself and wander down a delusional, parallel reality. Whether it’s through the lens of social media or another vessel, it’s about that moment of acceptance. Things get precarious when you sense it’s time to bow out and you begin bartering with yourself, but it feels safer to stay the course.”
“Shining Bright Truth” appears on Wakan’s 3rd Studio album ‘Phantasmagoria, Vol.2.’ With its progressive production and innovative thinking, Kan Wakan’s career can only continue to flourish.
