New to the lo-fi rap scene, dichotomi is a Toronto-based rapper with a new release definitely worth a spot on your playlist. Summer-ready tune “STF 17” is as soulful as it is captivating, an ode to the hot Canadian months. Released alongside equally endearing animated visuals, dichotomi is ready to show us what they’re all about.

Born in Florida and now living in Toronto, dichotomi hit the scene in 2019 with their own brand of chilled, infectious beats alongside relaxed rap. Emulating good vibes and often sticking to wholesome themes, listeners can expect a mood boost from tunes that take you on a hopeful journey.

Following up from last year’s fan-favourite “plush”, “STF 17” is the lead single from dichotomi’s upcoming EP. Produced by Frizzy Astro, the optimistic bop was written during the pandemic, fantasising about summers ahead. The artist recounts “It was the first pandemic winter, and I was really sick… I couldn’t go outside because the weather, and I had no energy or motivation to make life inside more enjoyable because of the mental and physical effects of the pandemic. At a real low point, I started fantasizing about summers in Toronto and told myself that ‘everything will be better in the summer’ – as soon as I said it aloud, I felt compelled to write a song on that theme.”
